Ukrainian inventors have created a new class of demining machines.
This is a startup — within its framework, three co-founders of the company “RoverTech” Bohdan Zmyy, Borys Drozhak and Vasyl Korenyovskyi came up with a new class of deminers at the request of the military.
According to the co-founder of the startup, Borys Drozhak, there are now large demining machines, but there were none like this one.
The Ukrainian invention-deminer “Zmyy” overcomes swamps and off-road terrain and demines the territory. It has a special design, in particular, wheels, and can withstand the explosion of various types of mines.
“A tank, the largest, the one with 12.5 kilograms of TNT equivalent, it will survive in 100 percent of cases. We have a chain here and a button at the end, a striking part. The task of this chain is to hit this mine,” says the co-founder of the startup, Borys Drozhak.
The “Zmiy” is controlled remotely using the same remote control as the FPV drones.
“The idea came to the military, they asked Vasyl, they drew such a diagram, we will publish it someday, it was just 4 wheels and in front — a shaft with chains. And they said – guys, make us such a thing, it will make our lives much easier. And it already takes a year,” says the co-founder of the project Bohdan Zmiy.
The price of one such mine-clearing machine for the army with a full set, according to Borys Drozhak, is from 15 to 25 thousand dollars.
“When planning any offensive action, you first need to demine the field. And the guys do it manually. I still remember how, from 2014-2015, when I was fighting, demining a 300-meter strip took us 4 days, and even then at night and with a lot of injuries. And this 300 meters can be done in 20 minutes,” says Vasyl Korenyovsky, co-founder of the project.
